and founder.
Jacob Phillips is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, teacher, sound engineer, and founder of Waymaker Music Company. He is a lifelong musician who picked up the guitar at just eight years old and the banjo at fifteen.
In December of 2023, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Roots Music Studies. During his time at ETSU, Jacob had the opportunity to learn from masterful musicians such as Jerry Keys, Wyatt Rice, Mike Compton, and Tim Stafford.
With his concentration in Audio Production for Musicians, he was able to work and learn in ETSU’s recording studio, gaining experience with recording, mixing, and mastering. Jacob was also given the opportunity to teach in a collegiate setting, teaching banjo and guitar to adult students to earn credit for a pedagogical capstone. Jacob is very passionate about music, and he believes that music is a universal truth that brings all people together.
Jacob is happily married to the love of his life and spends his free time playing music, fishing, or curling up on the couch to watch a good show.
